About Me

I am a designer who fell in love with gardening; initially as a hobbyist, then through study at the New York Botanical Gardens and now, through working with clients. Along the way I’ve learned that with horticulture the falling in love and the learning never ends!

Fine Gardening

As a gardener, I care deeply about thoughtfully creating and nurturing stunning gardens, borders and landscapes that deliver for people (and their pets!), pollinators, and local wildlife across all four seasons.

Along the way, I discovered that this practice could be labeled “fine gardening” and I’ve found the term useful in describing the service I strive to offer as distinct from your “garden variety” landscape design services.

Inspired by the old world planted for the new….

Throughout my studies I’ve been hugely inspired by garden history. I’ve also learned so much about the importance of planting native species. As a designer, I will always care about beauty first. Happily, I have learned first hand that beauty and ecologically sound practices are entirely compatible.

While I will work in any garden style, these two pillars of garden history and ecology have strongly influenced my naturalistic planting style—which can be described as an open relationship between Cottage Garden and Dutch Wave (aka New Perennial).
